The letter writer thinks she has Republicans nailed. They oppose funding for genital mutilation but want parents to have control over their children's education. This constitutes hypocrisy in the eyes of the letter writer. How this is arrived at is a mystery.

introduced by Sen. John Fuller which would deny gender-affirming treatment to young transgender people in Montana. (Here's the language:
4 A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: “AN ACT PROVIDING FOR A YOUTH HEALTH PROTECTION ACT;
5 PROHIBITING CERTAIN MEDICAL AND SURGICAL TREATMENTS TO TREAT MINORS WITH GENDER
6 DYSPHORIA; PROHIBITING PUBLIC FUNDS, PROGRAMS, PROPERTY, AND EMPLOYEES FROM BEING
7 USED FOR THESE TREATMENTS; PROVIDING THAT A HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL WHO VIOLATES
8 THIS LAW COMMITS PROFESSIONAL MISCONDUCT; PROVIDING A PRIVATE CAUSE OF ACTION;
9 PROHIBITING DISCHARGE OF PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY VIA INSURANCE; AND PROVIDING
10 DEFINITIONS.”
The Act prohibits tax money or public facilities from chopping up a child's body, and it invalidates liability insurance carried by the doctor if he/she is sued by someone he/she chopped up.
So care is not being denied, funding is being denied.)
One can only presume the logic behind this bill is that parents, the young persons’ doctors, their counselors and mental health care providers do not know what is best for the young persons in their care. (Funding does not equal care.)
Interestingly, the same day, I received an email from Sen. Steve Daines touting the introduction of his APLUS Act to give local leaders and parents more say in how their tax dollars are spent in education. Quoting Sen. Daines, “Montana parents and teachers know what Montana students need best.”
Presumably, Montana parents are smart enough to know what is best for their child’s education but not smart enough to know what is best for their child’s health after consultation with experts. (Funding does not equal health.)

Where is the logic behind these antithetical positions on the parenting skills of Montanans? (The letter writer seems to think that Republicans must oppose all forms of government intervention. But it seems clear that gender tranustion surgery is almost never indicated, while tens of thousands of Montana students are regularly subjected to educational malpractice.
The two are simply not the same.)
Or is it just the typical hypocrisy and/or gaslighting of a party that purportedly wants smaller government and more freedom until it violates their personal beliefs and sensibilities? (The hypocrisy goes both ways. Leftists like the author welcome any and all big government intervention, no matter how heavy handed, especially when it involves one of their special interest groups.
And they're more than happy to force their agenda upon you at the peril of fines and even jail. There is nothing like an aggrieved leftist demanding compliance.)
