Never trust a Leftist when statistics are the topic.
We are going to excerpt only one of many false assertions from Dr. Reich's missive.
(...)
Two weeks after Texas Governor Greg Abbott began reopening the state’s economy, Texas experienced the single-highest rise in cases since the beginning of the pandemic. Since Nebraska reopened May 4, Covid-19 cases in Colfax County alone have surged 1,390 percent. (We would remind Dr. Reich that figures don't lie, but liars figure. And Dr. Reich is flat-out figuring. More than once.
No less than the NY Times has all the data we need:
As we can see, Colfax county, Nebraska has had 604 cases and 3 deaths. Total. From the beginning. And the little bar graph indicates that infection frequency is decreasing in Colfax county over the last half of May, contrary to Dr. Reich's assertion.
There are 10,441 people living in the county (2000 census), which means 5.8% of the people have caught the virus, and .029% have died. In other words, the virus is not dangerous.
Experts warn that Dallas, Houston, Southeast Florida’s Gold Coast, the entire state of Alabama and several other places in the South that have rapidly reopened their economies are in danger of a second wave of coronavirus infections over the next four weeks.

Let's do a number experiment. In order for there to be a 1390% increase in infections since May 4th, with the current number of reported cases at 604, the starting number on May 4th would have to be 44 infections. So from May 4 to present that would mean 560 new cases in three weeks. In that one county of 10,441 people.
This did not happen.
This did not happen.
The state of Nebraska had about 5000 new cases in May, and 12,619 cases in total. It has a population of 1.9 million (2000 census). That would mean in this scenario that of those 5000 new cases in May, Colfax county would have had 11.4% of the new cases, but they have only .55% of the population.
We can see the charts for ourselves. This did not happen. Dr. Reich is a liar, a liar with an agenda.)
