Letter to the editor: SAVE Act is desperate move by dying party to stay in power - by Vickie Sehy

Found here. Our comments in bold.
-------------------------

The clueless letter writer does her duty to The Narrative, but all she manages to do is regurgitate leftist bumper sticker slogans.

Why would a leftist be concerned about the opposition? Why would she want to "help?" Well, she doesn't. She wants to reinforce the talking points. She's not interested in the truth, explanation, or increasing understand.

Lastly, the reader will note the letter writer will accuse Republicans of numerous things, which the Left has already been doing for years, if not decades. We have deemed this rhetorical technique "Mountain Man's Law."
-----------------------------------

Voter suppression is never a good thing and is the antithesis of democratic principles. The desire of the current Republican Party to use this tactic as a tool is backfiring and frankly hurting the party. ("Voter suppression" actually means that only eligible voters may vote, so the ineligible voters are being suppressed.

It is ironic to note that the Left routinely accuses Trump of colluding with Russia to steal the election in 2016, and of fraudulently winning the 2024 election, yet opposes the legislation that would have prevented Trump from supposedly stealing the election.)

Take for instance, the fact that Texas gerrymandered districts based on the idea that Hispanics would always vote for Trump. (The letter writer is either unaware or pretending not to know that the Left pioneered this handy tool in places like Chicago and New York for nearly a century ago, to ensure continual Leftist dominance of politics.)

Now that ICE has been arresting Hispanic citizens and law-abiding immigrants, this block of voters has swung left. (Again, she's writing because she's concerned about the Republican party.)

The attempts to swing the vote Republican by redrawing the maps in Texas has been a major error on the part of the party. (But apparently this technique is perfectly acceptable in California, where "redistricting" was accomplished with the goal of counteracting Republican redistricting in other states.

We received a fundraising email, ostensibly written by Gavin Newsome, which read in part:

We passed the Election Rigging Response Act in California to counter what Republicans did in Texas and to give Democrats a fair chance to take back the House.

Now we have to WIN these races, and there are no guarantees. A lot of Democrats accepted much closer races than they had before to give us that opportunity.

So according the Governor Newsome, these races were way to close, but that has been fixed by gerrymandering. Hmm.)

A second example this tactic (Which tactic?)

is the SAVE Act, which is struggling to pass through the Senate. This piece of legislation is sold as voter-fraud protection when in fact it is actually a form of voter suppression. (The letter writer opposes the suppression of ineligible voters.)

This act states that if your birth certificate doesn’t match your passport, then, depending upon the version that would pass, you either can’t register to vote or you can’t vote at all. This would cut off millions of women from their ability to vote. (She says this like it's a bad thing. But seriously, she's talking about versions of the bill and what she has been told they contain, as explained by leftist websites.)

The final form of voter suppression this administration has threatened to use refers back to the mention of ICE in the first paragraph. (???Her first paragraph does not mention ICE.)

Trump is strongly in favor of putting ICE at the polling places during the election. This is voter suppression through intimidation. (Surely the letter writer has forgotten how the Black Panthers were innocently standing at the entrance to a polling place:

Or how about Democrat George Wallace's voter intimidation tactics? The list is longer than we wish to take the time to research.

The fact of the matter is voter suppression always involves those who are not legally able to vote. While voter fraud, a real problem, was sufficient to win Joe Biden the presidency.)

If he was secure in the knowledge of a Republican win, he wouldn’t have to use such tactics. No administration should ever use such tactics.

Gerrymandering, voter-suppression laws and the use of force are the desperate moves of a dying party to stay in power.
