Top 10 NAR* and Seeker-Driven Buzzwords - by Michelle Lesley

Found here. Our comments in bold.
--------------------

Today Ms. Lesley is taking issue with jargon used by certain people, suggesting that this jargon is an indicator of heresy. However, all Christians use jargon. It's just that Ms. Lesley doesn't like these people for their jargon because she doesn't like their doctrines. It's really a superficial and trite reason, grounded in a pre-existent dislike.

We don't intend to defend any of these people she cites, we are only interested in evaluating Ms. Lesley's presentation.

She doesn't explain anything. She offers no analysis. She provides no teaching. She quotes no Bible verse. She doesn't tell us anything about what's wrong with these phrases, most of which are found in the Bible in some form or another.

We must deem the Bad Bible Teaching.
---------------------------------

I study false teachers pretty often. I watch their videos, listen to their sermons, and read their articles. And I’ve noticed that there are some common buzzwords that New Apostolic Reformation* and Seeker-Driven false teachers tend to use over and over again. Naturally, these words are just that: words. Just because you hear your pastor, Sunday School teacher, or favorite Christian celebrity utter one or more of them doesn’t necessarily mean he or she is a heretic. But if you’re constantly hearing these words and phrases, it could be a red flag that you need to vet the person you’re listening to more carefully and see whether or not his or her theology matches up to what the Bible says. So, here, in no particular order are 10 such buzzwords and some of the false teachers who are fond of them:

1. The Glory

“Sometimes as I stand in the glory my hands and feet will begin to drip with supernatural oil, representing the miracle anointing of God.” ~ Joshua Mills

(1Kg. 8:11 And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled his temple.

Ro. 8:18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.)

2. In The Natural

“I learned that even when we are in a place of obedience, we often have no way in the natural of knowing for sure whether we are right or wrong.” ~ Joyce Meyer

(1Co. 15:46 The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual.)

3. Shaking/Shifting

“If we continue to pray and call out to God, the nation will shift.”

“There is terror in Tampa, Tallahassee and Miami – a ring of terror; but, God has a ring of fire. Shaking, shaking, shaking.” ~ Cindy Jacobs

(He. 12:26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.)

4. Decree

“Decree and declare… THE FAMINE IS OVER!” ~ T.D. Jakes (We tepidly agree with Ms. Lesly on this point, having experienced prayer meetings where people were decreeing and declaring. There is a place for declarations, however, and that is the proclamation of what God has already decreed:

Ps. 2:7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD...

Ps. 89:2 I will declare that your love stands firm for ever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.

Ps. 71:17 Since my youth, O God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.)

5. Declare

“I declare that I am a ‘no lack’ person and receive every blessing You have prepared for me.” ~ Joel Osteen

6. Spirit-man

“Pray always and when you catch your mind trying to reason out a prophetic revelation, let your spirit man rise up and take control.” ~ Jennifer Leclaire
(1Co. 2:14-15 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things...)
7. Holyspirit

A number of NAR personalities refer to the third Person of the Trinity as “Holyspirit” -as though that were His first name- instead of the Holy Spirit. For example, “Holyspirit said to me the other day…” (Well, what does the Bible say? Here's the first NT occurrence of the phrase:

Mt. 1:18 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.

 The Greek looks like this:

4151 [e]
pneumatos
πνεύματος
[the] Spirit
N-GNS
40 [e]
hagiou
ἁγίου  .
Holy
Adj-GNS

Notice two Greek words, pneumatos and hagiou [Spirit holy], while the word "the" is in brackets. the use of brackets means it's an editorial insertion.

The NT uses the pneumatos hagiou combination dozens of times, almost always without "the." Here's one rare of the rare exceptions:

Mt. 12:32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit...

The Greek looks like this:

4151 [e]
Pneumatos
Πνεύματος
Spirit
N-GNS
3588 [e]
tou
τοῦ
the
Art-GNS
40 [e]
Hagiou
Ἁγίου  ,
Holy
Adj-GNS

But the inclusion of the Greek word tou is an extremely rare occurrence. The most common and literal rendition would be "holy Spirit" and not "the Holy Spirit." This means Ms. Lesley is upset at the proper translation of the phrase, which just so happens to contradict her religious tradition. Hmm.)

It is nearly impossible to isolate a text example of this as a) it is usually verbal and b) search engines always include the word “the” in search results.

8. In the heavenlies

“War in the heavenlies. We can battle against the enemy’s strategies through prayer and declaration of the Word. This wins the battle in the heavenlies before it hits the earth.” ~ Patricia King (Does Ms. Lesley think there is not war in the heavenlies?
Re. 12:7 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.
Perhaps the phrase might be used improperly, but Ms. Lesley does not discuss that. So we don't know what her complaint is.)

9. Come into agreement/alignment

“…the Bible states that God, before time, determined your zip code—that spiritual place and geographical location; when you get into that spot, everything around you will begin to come into alignment.” ~ Cindy Trimm (Ms. Lesley is a Calvinist, so we're a little surprised that she objects to God's pre-ordination.)

10. Cast vision

“Sure, I cast vision—but it has taken every staff member and volunteer we have to pull it off.” ~ Perry Noble
