Some people use the word "woke" as if it's supposed to be an insult... Faceborg meme

A leftist friend posted this: 

Leftists created this term for the purpose of allowing themselves to brag about their superior morality. Then they and are surprised when they get mocked for it and are offended by the blow-back. They respond to this by doubling down on their moral preening and insulting those who mock them. 

The "woke" are smug, pompous, and dismissive. This ties in perfectly with the general attitude of these leftists who think they are always the smartest ones in the room, they are the ones who should have political power, and they are the ones who are simply superior. The rest of us, of course, are uneducated, unsophisticated, unenlightened, and just generally stupid. 

Lacking any sort of real moral standards, the "woke" need something to reassure themselves they are ok, something that bolsters their fragile self-esteem. So there's nothing better than having a catch-all term that not only extolls their virtue but separates them from the non-woke. 

This explains why they respond to criticism with such thin skins. Because of their moral house of cards they tolerate no dissent, no variation from orthodoxy, and no suggestion that they may be wrong. In fact, it is not possible for them to be wrong. 

No wonder they're mocked when they are being so ironic.
