Here is a thought provoking read, particularly for my Christian friends. For some reason, we Christians seem to be more resistant to the idea of reparations than our non-believing friends. I fully agree with this article. It's a long read and it stings a bit, but please follow it through to the end.

Should We Repent of Our Grandparents’ Racist Ideology?
Paul: Here's what I know. The systemic racism that existed in our country still has its tendrils intricately wrapped around the hearts of the citizens of the USA. I have examined my heart. I found great love for my fellow humans. I found compassion. I found empathy. I also found arrogance and pride. At times, that arrogance manifests itself as racism. I am willing to humble myself. I am willing to confess my sin of racism. I am willing to repent for it as well. I am willing to confess that from the founding of this country despicable racism has occurred. I am willing to repent for that as well, in as much as I am willing to do whatever I can to help this country turn from (repent) the systemic racism that did and still does exist in this country. I am willing to be liberal with my resources to do this.
Me: I know "generational repentance" is popular in some parts of the church, but I don't see that concept in Scripture, except for Israel.

"Systemic racism" is a fiction in my opinion. A system is an purposeful, organized structure that expresses a human desire for order. That expression can be legitimate, moral, and useful, or it can be oppressive and destructive.
Structures cannot continue to exist apart from intentional maintenance. A system is not a sentient entity, so it cannot be racist. Systemic racism is not possible without racists. A system will not continue to exist without systemizers. Thus it is impossible for a system to persist without those who would feed it.
Therefore, a system cannot inflict harm without those humans who would use it or allow it to inflict harm.

As we survey the places across the nation where racism seems to be a significant problem, all of these places are controlled by the political Left. In addition to Minneapolis, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Seattle are all current racism hotspots, and all of them have been governed by the Left for decades.
If those in control have not changed the system, they must be in agreement with its results. My conclusion is the current occupants of these power positions within the system are racist, either actively or passively.
My last conclusion is that the phrase "systemic racism" is an attempt to indict the system so as to give reason to replace it. Racism is an excuse.
Despite the fact that our country has made great strides to wipe out the residual effects of racism, the agitators want to hold it responsible for all the ills of the world. So if America is responsible, it is evil. If it is evil, it must be replaced.
Paul: Do you deny that systems were put in place after the Civil War through the 1960's and maybe even 70's that were both overtly and covertly racist? Do you deny that the while most of these systems are now "officially" defunct, that the residual effects of them are still strongly felt by those the systems were meant to oppress? Do you deny that there is still exists white supremacy and racism against people of color in ALL states and cities, no matter the political affiliation of the governing authorities? I am weary of the excuse that the left is in power in areas where protests are occurring. These are areas where people of color reside in higher numbers than elsewhere. Racism exists in the left, middle and right. I desire that all members of the human race work towards racial equality, not point fingers at others.
Bruce: Rich, brilliant analysis.
Me: Um, Paul. "System racism" is itself pointing fingers.

Yes, I deny every assertion you made. These assertions have nothing to do with systems, it is always hateful people expressing hate.
I refuse to allow race-baiters to morph individual responsibility into a system, thereby ensuring there can never be a solution, apart from replacing the system with socialism.
Regardless of the fact that racism exists everywhere, it still remains that in those places of the "enlightened" progressive control, that's where "systemic racism" is the worst. I am happy to point fingers where fingers deserve to be pointed.
