The author recycles his arguments periodically, presumably because he needs to have something to post. Thus, we have already dealt with his arguments elsewhere.
However, there is a persistent misapprehension present here that is worth discussing. We shall attempt to explore that.
--------------------------------------
Is God supplying additional revelation to express His commands for mankind? No He is not. God has not been adding to His word since the Bible was completed. All of the Scriptures found in Bible were written by 100 A.D.. All that men need to know in order to receive salvation and live the Christian life is found in the Bible. There is no need of SUPPLEMENTARY REVELATION! (The author helpfully includes most every misstatement, non sequitur, and failure of logic in one paragraph. Those are:
1) additional revelation = adding to His word
2) additional revelation = adding to the Bible
3) Bible compiled = revelation ceased
4) additional revelation = additional requirementsIt is clear to us that the author is unacquainted with what the charismatics actually believe and teach about the prophetic gift in the modern church. He prefers to discuss characterizations that have nothing to do with the subject in order to vilify those with whom he disagrees.)
Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 Teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Jesus told the apostles to teach the disciples to observe all things that He commanded. We have to assume the apostles did just that. The apostles did not have to wait for "supplementary revelation" from the fifth century, the fifteenth century or the twenty first century. (The author's inscrutable thinking is here on display. The apostles, living in the first century, should have had access to revelation after their deaths? Once again we are confronted with what seems to be the author's ignorance. He thinks that prophetic utterance always rises to the level of Scripture, and that the prophetic is heretofore unrevealed truth that is somehow needed to complete the gospel. Neither belief is correct.)
John 16:12-15 "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 But when He, the Spirit of truth , comes, He will guide you into all, the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He speaks; and He will disclose it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.
THE APOSTLES HAD ALL TRUTH BEFORE THEY DIED! ("All truth" does not equal "everything God will ever say.")
Jesus said the apostles would be taught all the truth. If the apostles were taught all truth, then what are those in the modern church, who claim new revelation from God, teaching? (Let's take the author's statement and substitute a word or two: "If the apostles were taught all truth, then what are pastors in the modern church, who claim new insights from Scripture, teaching?" You see the nature of our question. If the apostles had all truth, we can similarly dismiss the thousands of Sunday sermons that occur each week. There is no need for these people to stand in the pulpit and provide their insights. The apostles received all truth. There is no more, right?)
The so-called modern day apostles and prophets have no new truth. (And they do not claim to. The prophetic does not reveal "new truth," it is always what God has said all along. God has always repeated his revelation, He rarely says something only once. The prophetic restates the truths of God in conformity to Scripture and by the power of the Holy Spirit so that we benefit in this day.)
Galatians 1:11 For I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught , but I receive through a revelation of Jesus Christ.
The apostle Paul received his teaching from Jesus Christ. (Correct.)
The apostles were taught by Jesus and the Holy Spirit. (Correct.)
The words and writings of the apostles were Scripture. (Some of them.)
If the modern churches do indeed have apostles and prophets of God, and are receiving "supplementary revelation," then why are they not adding these additional Scriptures to the Bible? (Because they are not Scripture. This is easy to demonstrate.
Ac. 11:27: During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world.Questions: How many prophets came to Antioch? We don't know. What did they prophesy? We don't know, only Agabus' prophecy is recorded. Why didn't those other prophets have their word recorded? Because they weren't Scripture. Conclusion: Not all prophecy is Scripture.
We see this same thing in Acts 13:1, Acts 15:32, Acts 19:6, Acts 21:9, 1 Tim. 1:18, 1, and Tim. 4:14. We don't know what these prophecies were, or what they prophesied. Therefore, not all prophecy is Scripture.)
The answer is obvious. THERE ARE NO NEW REVELATIONS OF SCRIPTURE FROM GOD. THERE ARE NO "SUPPLEMENTARY REVELATIONS" TO THE BIBLE. GOD HAS SPOKEN ALL THE TRUTH WE NEED, AND IT IS IN THE BIBLE!
CAN MEN PARTICIPATE IN "SUPPLEMENTARY REVELATION" WITH IMPUNITY?
Deuteronomy 4:2 "You shall not add to the word which I commanded you, not take anything from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
Israel was warned not to embrace "supplementary revelation." (Yet thousands of words of prophecy were spoken and written down after this, from Amos to Zephaniah and into the NT...)
Proverbs 30:5-6 Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. 6 Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.
According to Scripture those who add to God's word are liars. What does that say about the churches who claim to have modern day apostles and prophets who are giving new revelations? They are in fact making their particular denomination the authority; therefore rendering the Bible as a secondary source, of a limited, and sometimes obsolete truth.
Revelation 22:18-19 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city which are written in this book.
If the "supplementary revelation"that is proclaimed by these contemporary churches is true; then why do they not add it to the sixty-six books of the Bible?
The fact is, rather than add to the Bible, the so-call new revelations are written down in catechisms and other books supposedly inspired by God.
THE LAST VERSE OF SCRIPTURE WAS COMPLETED BY 100 A.D.-----There IS NO "SUPPLEMENTARY REVELATION" TO GOD'S WORD!
