Piers Morgan: "I'd like to suggest a new amendment to the U.S. Constitution"

I'm going to say this again and again until everyone in the country understands. The Constitution is the document that creates, defines, and limits government. It is not about the People and what they can and cannot do. It does not grant rights or privileges or powers to the People; the People grant powers to the government.

I can forgive Piers Morgan for being ignorant, since he's not American. But his error is repeated by Americans at a disturbingly high rate. Americans are being maleducated, I think deliberately, so that they accede to government's at-will intervention into their lives. They are being conditioned to look to and depend upon government for their every need.

The fact that the government has always failed at its extra-constitutional activities doesn't seem to dissuade the True Believers. When government fails, as it inevitably does, they simply advocate more! Can't solve poverty? We need more of the same failed ideas! Social Security insolvent? Let's increase benefits! Time after time, government's excursions into social engineering have made the problems worse.

At some point the social engineers are going to push the country over the financial and moral precipice. Someone will have to pick up the pieces and reconstruct the system. It will be those who believe the Bible, the founders, and the Constitution.
