Steven Furtick Says it’s Impossible to Believe Jesus is Lord Without a Doubt, Tells Staff Never to Say it - By JEFF MAPLES

Found here. Our comments in bold.
-------------------

This author has appeared on our blog before. His rhetorical tactics are inevitably scorched earth.

Our intent is not to defend Steven Furtick. We shall occupy ourselves with examining the author's presentation.
------------------

Steven Furtick is more than just a false teacher. He is a demonic liar, a deceiver, and if anything, more like Satan than any angel of light he masquerades as — and he think’s he’s Jesus. (We do not accept documentation that is the author's own commentary.

Further, we certainly do not desire to critique two of the author's screeds at once, yet we will briefly detour. Furtick did not indicate he was Jesus. He joked about injuring his heel as he figuratively stomped on Satan's head.

This is not automatically outside biblical orthodoxy: Ro. 16:20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.)

He preaches a false prosperity gospel and bilks his congregation for money. He has made absurd claims about not only the Scriptures but God himself such as claiming that God reflects his image (rather than man reflecting God’s image), (Another article by the author, with a broken link.)

that without man, God is just an abstract concept, (Another of the author's articles.)

and denies God’s sovereignty over His own plans. (Which Furtick did not do. The author references yet another of his own articles, this one is a big to-do where the author is simply engaging in doctrinal hairsplitting.)

And just last week, he embraced the heresy of his close associate, T.D. Jakes — modalism. (T.D. Jakes moved away from modalism years ago. We discuss "manifestations" of the Godhead here.

Yet again we are pressed to critique the contents of another of the author's articles. He quotes Furtick by saying,
During a recent sermon Furtick preaches, Furtick, twisting John 16:7, says that Jesus “is not leaving you, but changing forms.” He then goes on to say “up until now I have walked with you, But when I send my spirit, I will be in you.”
We aren't quite sure how this is modalism. Yet the author hyperventilates about heresy without bothering to discuss or explain.

Did Jesus change forms? Well of course. First we know that we shall change:
1Co. 15:53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.
Jesus came to earth as a man [Ph. 2:6], died and was raised by the power of God [Ep. 1:20]. He now reigns, victorious over death [Re. 1:18]. Therefore it is true He changed forms [He. 7:15].

The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ [Ro. 8:9, 1Pe. 1:11] now dwells within us.)

To add to that, he also recently preached a sermon declaring that God is “energy” and that he is a “molecular structure that fills all in all” — then proceeds to assert that this is what it means that Jesus was “there from the beginning.” His heresies seem to never continue piling on. (We have no desire to plow through an hour + youtube video to micro-analyze Furtick.)

Now, Steven Furtick says that he had to “correct” his co-pastor for telling people who want to come to Christ that they can believe in Jesus “without a doubt.” According to Furtick, believing “without any doubt” is a prayer than cannot be honestly prayed.
I told him never again, when you stand in the pulpit at Elevation, do I want you to put people in a position to where you’re telling them to pray something they can’t honestly pray. In fact, don’t put them in a position to pray something that you can’t honestly pray. Because there is not one of you in the room even with tabs in your pink bible that can honestly say “without a doubt.”
Furtick, of course, preaches in opposition to the Scriptures, which says that those who doubt are double-minded, unstable, and should expect not to receive anything from the Lord.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. –James 1:5-8
(Again showing his lack of theological bonafides, the author forfeits an opportunity to discuss doubt and faith from a biblical perspective. Instead, he proof texts his assertion to the exclusion of other texts like Jude 22: And have mercy on those who doubt... He has no mercy for those who find complete assurance a difficult thing. Indeed, many Christians are of have been in this situation. Yet the author has nothing but derision for Furtick.

The author elsewhere has mocked Christians for believing they can pray for someone to be healed. Yet only a few chapters later in the very same epistle, James tells us:
Ja. 5:14-15 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.
So which is it, Mr. Maples? Are we to pray without doubt, or are we to doubt God will heal when we pray?)
