Odd. No one is in denial of America's Aug 21 total solar eclipse - Neil DeGrasse Tyson

Me: You can trust astrologers because physicists get amazingly accurate results.

Scott: Astrology has no connection to physics beyond 400 year old history

Me: Exactly. The veracity of one thing does not transfer to another thing. I'm glad you got the point, but I suspect that Dr. Tyson hasn't thought of that.

Scott: As a scientist myself I think he's closer to right than your analogy. First principles of physics based on proven physical law lead equally well to predicting planetary motions and predicting the greenhouse effect. Both are inescapable conclusions if one accepts established physics. Uncertainties remain in the detailed modeling of the consequences of the greenhouse effect but there is no escaping the fact that mankind has increased the concentration of those gases in the atmosphere and that increase must lead to warming. That was established more than 120 years ago

Me: All true, I'm sure. I note, however, that I have not addressed the claims of climate science at all; rather, the assertion of Dr. Tyson. His fallacious logic remains worthy of criticism.
