INHERIT ORIGINAL SIN? - BY STEVE FINNELL

Originally found here. Reproduced here for fair use and discussion purposes. My comments in bold.
---------------------------------

(I covered the author's previous missive about this very same subject here. We are revisiting this because the author makes some new assertions worthy of examination.
---------------------------------

If the false doctrine of original sin is true how would Christian parents pass it on to their children? (I really don't think the author actually understands the doctrine of fallen creation, as I prefer to call it. As I noted before, all of creation was corrupted by the sin of Adam [Rom. 8:20-22], and Jesus' sacrifice reversed the curse of the law: "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us..." Ga. 3:13

So his question becomes nonsensical, because everyone is born as a fallen man and is in need of redemption from the curse.)

Ephesians 5:25-27...just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish. (NKJV)

How would it be possible for the church to be holy without blemish and be able to pass the inherited guilt of Adam's sin to children of Christian parents? (Persisting in his nonsensical questioning, the author extends his scope to include the entire Body of Christ. Making the "problem" bigger doesn't change the answer.)

John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said , "Behold The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! (NKJV)

Does Jesus take away all sin except original sin? He did not die for original sin. Original sin inherited by men is not found in the Bible. (Going from nonsensical to the ridiculous, the author bifurcates sin into categories as if Christ died for one kind of sin but not another. However, there is no need to make these artificial distinctions. In Rom. 3:19-28, Paul gives us the nature of sin, the universality of sin, how we came to know that we are sinners, and the remedy for sin:
"Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no-one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.
"But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.
"He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished — he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law."
What the author doesn't seem to understand is that sin is a condition, a state of being. It is not only what we do or think or believe. It is our nature as part of fallen creation.)

If children of Christians inherit the sin of Adam then why do they not inherit the individual sins of their parents such as drunkenness, murder, adultery etc.? Why, because children do inherit any sin at all. (Has the author never read Ex. 20:5-6? "You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.")

Men are only guilty of the sins they themselves commit. (Note how the author equates sin only with actions.)

Men die physically because of Adam's sin.
Men die spiritually because of the their own sins.

The doctrine of total depravity and original sin that is inherited from Adam is a fabrication of men.

How would it be possible to inherit sin from a Christian who has been cleansed of all sin by the blood of Jesus Christ? (He keeps asking, thinking that there is some specific sin that can only be passed from parent to child, as if the child is not part of fallen creation and not in need of redemption.)

  1. CRYING WOLF BY STEVE FINNELL
Is God just "crying wolf" when He warns Christians of falling away or mentions those who have departed from the faith?

The doctrine "Perseverance of the Saints" states that God grants eternal security for all those He has unconditionally selected and saved. IS THAT FACT OR FICTION?

Acts 20:28-30 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. 29 I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

Was God using the apostle Paul to "cry wolf" even though there was no danger to the church?

Galatians 5:4 You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

Was the declaration by Paul, to those Christians who were trying to be justified by the law, just another example of God "crying wolf" through the apostle Paul?

1 Corinthians 9:27 but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

If "once saved always saved" is God's doctrine; then how could Paul be disqualified? Was Paul just "crying wolf" as some might proclaim?

Hebrews 6:4-6 For in the case of those who have once been enlighten and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the power of the age to come, 6 and when then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.

Why would God warn of the possibility of apostasy if all Christians were guaranteed eternal security? Was God just "crying wolf" one more time?

Revelation 3:1-5 "To the angel of the church in Sardis write......4 But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. 5 He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life....

Jesus sent this message to the church. Note: Jesus said only a few had not soiled their garments. Jesus makes it clear that church members can have their names erased from the book of life. Was Jesus just "crying wolf?"

    GOD CANNOT LIE!
Titus 1:2 in the hope of eternal life , which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,

God promised eternal life, He did not promise Christians; that they could never fall from grace.

  2. Thanks for making the comment, but what does eternal security have to do with original sin? Do you have a comment about what I wrote?

  3. Hi, I was googling for Steve Finnel because on Oct 27th, 2014, he put verses quoted from the bible on one of my blog post; with no introducing, no explanation & surely without asking if it would be okay with me.

I emailed & barked at him about how annoyed his post was but he never replied.

Anyway, I happened to see your blog, mentioning his name & from reading it, I knew I was not the only one and obviously not the first blogger who received his visit. It is interesting that I found some other bloggers specifically wrote posts in respond to whatever this guy's posted on their blogs

I was just wondering, have you ever seen his photo somewhere or knew something about him?
