The Nation is raising funds for some Democrat in Wisconsin, and she is running to keep "progress" going. And to take a courageous stand against Republicans. We all know how eeeevil those Republicans are, especially in Wisconsin. They want to kill and starve people. And stuff.
According to her, governor Walker is waging war on Wisconsin's values. So, as a geo-political entity, what are Wisconsin's values? Isn't this a moral-sounding fiction with no meaning, like "world opinion?"
I suspect that is this recurrent theme of "values" contained in Democrats' rhetoric is an attempt to seize the high ground in a way that makes the casual observer say to themselves, "Hey, those Democrats must not hate religion!"
Dear
Fellow Progressive,
Something
big is happening in Wisconsin.
In
a state that has always stood at the forefront of American progress, ordinary
people are joining together to stand against the Tea Party politics that are
taking our country in the wrong direction.
Through
the cold Wisconsin winter, grassroots organizers and hardworking volunteers
gathered more than one million signatures to recall of Governor Scott
Walker.
As
they have so many times before, Wisconsin progressives are standing up to the
powerful on behalf of the people, taking direct action against politicians who
have sold out working men and women to benefit greedy corporate interests.
I
am privileged to stand with those same progressive fighters in my race for the
U.S. Senate.
Will
you join me -- and so many great Wisconsin progressives -- by pledging your
support for my campaign?
True
progress is never easy. And the same powerful right-wing forces who brought us
Scott Walker and so many other Tea Party radicals in 2010 are lining up against
us again now. Two weeks ago, three of my potential Republican opponents spoke at
a rally in support of Governor Walker and his war on Wisconsin
values.
Whoever
wins the food fight primary, we know he will share Scott Walker's extreme
ideology -- and his close ties to right-wing attack groups funded by the likes
of the Koch brothers. We both know what's at stake here -- not just one Senate
seat, but our ability to bring a progressive vision to the U.S. Senate -- and
I'm committed to fighting for our values.
If
you agree that 2012 is the right time for progressives like you and me to take
this fight from Wisconsin to Washington, D.C., please join my grassroots
campaign now!
We
know what the Tea Party and their Koch brother funders have in store for our
country. We've seen their agenda in Wisconsin, and we've seen it in Congress.
But we also know that progressives can do so much to move this country in the
right direction -- from protecting Medicare to standing up to special interests
to putting middle class families on the top of the national agenda.
Something
big is happening in Wisconsin. And,
with your help, we can make something big happen in Washington.
Thanks,
Tammy
