Word usage, a failure to communicate

It seems to me that the language is being diluted and corrupted in this modern age. I received this memo regarding a sales incentive being offered by one of my carriers. Notice the use of the word incent:

This word is a neologism, which according to wikipedia is "a newly coined term, word, or phrase, that may be in the process of entering common use, but has not yet been accepted into mainstream language." Ordinarily I might be agreeable to new words being needed to express new concepts, but this particular example strikes me a either illiterate or lazy.

The word does not improve the language. It is annoying. There is a readable way to express the same thought: "The CSR campaign is designed to provide incentive..."

Also note the phrase "target market business retains longer." What exactly does it retain? Water? Structural integrity? A sense of confidence? The correct phrasing, of course, is "target market business is retained longer."

I suppose I could get into a discussion of the think-speak that goes on in politics, like referring to taxes as contributions, but I don't have the time right now.
